A Cover for THE REPLACEMENT

THE REPLACEMENT has a cover, and I have permission to share it!

This is for the ARC, so the font/text/everything isn’t set in stone, but even with small changes, the final book is going to look a lot like this. It was designed by Natalie Sousa and photographed by Jonathan Barkat and I am in total cover-love with it!

I’ve been dying–dying, I tell you!–from wanting to show everyone, and now at last I can!

  1. Oh that’s gorgeous! In a macabre, faery-wing slicing way! Definitely a cover that would catch my eye 😀

  2. WOW! That’s the kind of cover that would attract me instantly while browsing at the book store. It says, “READ ME!” Love it!

  3. I meant to post yesterday that I LOVE this cover b/c it is finally, finally, finally doing what a cover should do. YAY, cover-people for getting one right!!

And yay you for being the one who has it! 🙂

  4. Yes, creepy. It disturbs me a little, and reminds me of the start of Ghost Whisperer, which also unsettles me.

  5. wow! AMAZING cover, I can’t wait to read it! That’s a great quote from Maggie, too. When’s the release date? Are you going to have an ARC contest?

  6. Thanks! I was so happy when I found out Jonathan Barkat was doing the photography, because I loved what he’d done with FoHaT! I’m just a pure sucker for that cold, eerie filter.

  7. It actually gave me a heart-stutter when I first saw it, and even *kind* of knew what it was going to look like–it just took me by surprise!

  8. Thanks! I was especially happy about all those sharp things–I am just way too attracted to shiny objects 🙂

  9. I’ve said this like a billion times at this point, but I am *so* happy! I have no idea how they did it, but the cover is actually Like the Story! They did such a good job–now I want to find out how I could go about sending them presents 🙂

  10. It disturbs me a little too, like the picture of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum in Alice Through the Looking-Glass. When I was really young, the drawing scared me in such a mesmerizing way that I had to keep taking out the book and looking at it!

  11. You’d think I’d be used to it by now, but every now and then I’ll look at it, and it still gives me a little startle sometimes!

  12. The release date is scheduled for September 16, and when I get some ARCs, I’m definitely doing contests! And actually, keep your eye out because Maggie and I have been talking about doing some kind of tandem contest!

  13. Yes! And Rosemary’s Baby, and all kinds of atmospheric things like that! I keep looking at it and getting little shivers 😀

  14. Thanks! Now that I’m allowed to share the cover, this is all starting to feel shockingly REAL 😀

  15. Oh wow, it makes me think of a movie poster! Its very eerie and I don’t think I’ve ever seen another cover like it -thumbs up-

  16. I Cannot cannot cannot wait to read it… It’s wonderfully chilling and scary and creepy and gorgeous!!!

  17. Ok, this cover got me. Where can I find more about the book? Actually, where/when can I put my hands on it? *does smeagol face* If you want to give an ARC to a brazilian bookworm, I’m avaliable… just fyi :DDD

  18. I’ve never read that book, but I can probably guess what its about, and tell me if I’m wrong, but does it have something to do with Changelings? There’s a lot of folklaw embedded in the cover. The cradle, because fairies took babies, usually. The open scissors, the knife, the horseshoe, probably all made of metal which is poisonous to fairies.
